2022 REVIEW TOPICS

Here's what is in consideration for review this year.

Following the AGM ALL these changes were approved EXCEPT

A further motion to update Reg 8.1.6 9 (Spikes for Batters) is expected at the Secretaries Meeting on 15-Aug.

Playing Regulations document updates are now underway but printing of booklets will be delayed until this last item is decided.

K. New edition of the Laws of Cricket (2022)
There will be a new edition of the Laws published later in 2022. If available at the right time, there are numerous references to the Laws contained in the Regulations which will be updated. This may lead to minor changes in copy and layout.

Also there will be an attempt to integrate Bridging and Over 40's regulations into the complete playing regulations.

L. Change Super20 Bonus points to Net Run Rate (Reg 34.2 and 35.8)

And these have been modified

M. Short Pitched Balls in ALL Games (Reg 29.2)

The CCC rule on this needs fixing but fundamentally they just wanted to make it like on TV in Test Cricket. i.e. a high bouncer over the batter's head is made a WIDE not a no ball as in Law 21.10.
Maybe we should have the same in QSDCA cricket?
(Sat 35, Sunday 50, Super 20, Over 40, Saturday Two Dayers, Bridging Comp)

Rolling the Pitch During a Match (New Reg supplementing Law 9)

(new) Simpler Leg side wides (Reg 28)
A suggestion was made to introduce a simple and direct definition for legside wides in limited over matches.
The idea was countered by the notion that such a rigid idea might prolong some matches intolerably given the bowling ability on display in some teams.

SO FAR...

  • The QSDCA Playing regulations were rewritten in 2015/2016 and reviewed in 2017.
  • A set of Playing regulations for Sunday 50 Over Competition was developed in 2017.
  • A minor review of the Super 20 Kookaburra Cup Playing Regulations was also completed in 2017.
  • In 2018, a new version of Super 20 regulations was made and regulations for all 3 QSDCA competitions were published together for the first time.
  • In 2019 and 2020 several proposals were duly considered. Most were passed. Some were dropped.
  • In 2020 a renumbering project was completed so that parallel regulations in each competition had corresponding numbers.
  • In 2021 several proposals were duly considered. Most were passed. Some were dropped.
  • In 2021 the new CCC regulations based on QSDCA Playing Regulations were introduced..
  • Also an Over 40's set of regs was written.
  • Outline playing conditions for the QSDCA Bridging Competition were introduced for the new competition aimed at younger players.
  • A major challenge going forward will be the co-ordination of regulations for 5 different competitions.
